The Appalachian Judicial Circuit seeks an Official Court Reporter to serve the Superior Court. The Appalachian Judicial Circuit covers Pickens, Gilmer, and Fannin counties. This position is responsible for maintaining an accurate record of court proceedings. **Much of the reporting can be done by WebEx.
MAJOR DUTIES:
- Attends court sessions and records verbatim testimony via stenographic or comparable method.
- Maintains the official record of proceedings of the Superior Court.
- Produces an accurate and timely verbatim transcript of proceedings as requested by parties associated with the proceedings, including attorneys, judges, and defendants.
KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION:
- Knowledge of Board of Court Reporting policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of specialized recording equipment
- Knowledge of generally accepted court reporting practices and procedures.
- Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs.
- Skill in the recording of verbatim reports.
- Skill in the preparation of clear and precise recordings.
- Skill in oral and written communication.
GUIDELINES:
Guidelines include the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, Georgia Court rules and procedures, and Georgia Board of Court Reporting rules, regulations, and procedures.
