The Stenograph Milton H. Wright Memorial Scholarship is offered through the National Court Reporters Foundation and honors the memory of Stenograph’s founder. Court reporting students in formal court reporting programs are encouraged to apply for the merit-based award, which is worth up to $5,000 in tuition and will include use of a student writer and software.

Eligibility criteria

Students must meet the eligibility requirements and submit the completed documentation listed below to qualify for the scholarship. Notification of the Stenograph MHW Memorial Scholarship will be sent to all court reporting schools registered with NCRA. Stenograph will also market this scholarship through its network.

  • Have attained an exemplary academic record (3.5 GPA or above)
  • Have passed one skills test writing 90-130 words per minute at the time of submission

How to apply

The following documents are required to be submitted for application:

  • Speed Verification Form
  • A copy of the student's most recent transcript
  • A double-spaced two page essay. Topic: Discuss how advancements in technology have enhanced the role of stenographic court reporters in ensuring the accuracy of legal transcripts. Highlight specific tools or software that have made a significant impact and how these complement court reporters’ and CART captioners’ stenographic skills.
