RESTON, Va., July 30, 2021 — TheNational Court Reporters Association (NCRA), the country’s leading organization representing stenographic court reporters, captioners, and legal videographers, today announced that Erika Sjoquist, RPR, CRR, a court reporter from Savannah, Ga., was elected to serve a three-year term as a Director during the Association’s Conference & Expo being held July 29-Aug. 1 at the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nev.
Sjoquist is a court reporter with 29 years of experience of reporting in all areas of law. She holds the nationally recognized professional certifications of Registered Professional Reporter (RPR) and the Certified Realtime Reporter (CRR) and was a student at the Court Reporting Institute in Seattle, Wash. She is also licensed and certified in the states of California, Georgia, and Washington.
Sjoquist is credited with introducing realtime into various courtrooms of the Superior Court of the State of California, County of Ventura; and the U.S. District Court in Portland, Ore. She has covered an array of important events, including the National Republicans Women’s Convention held in Seattle, Wash.; served as lead reporter for the Academy Awards reporting interviews with Oscar winners; as a lead reporter for the Screen Actors Guild/AFTRA Awards reporting acceptance speeches; and as a lead reporter for the Disney Channel reporting interviews with foreign press members.
She is currently a state court reporter for McKee Court Reporting in Savannah, Ga.
At the national level, Sjoquist has attended numerous conferences. She is also a past president of the California Deposition Reporters Association.
